While in line at the grocery store I noticed the text on the tee shirt worn by the man standing behind me. He was grumbling about the current shortages of some items on grocery store shelves. I suppose that he thought his tee shirt was witty or funny but it may have spoken more than he meant to express. The text was
DON'T MAKE ME VIOLATE MY PAROLE!
The message is a subtle threat. He is expressing that "I am angry and seething inside and if you irritate me in any way I may respond with physical violence." Any police officer can tell you that there are many people like this. I suspect that the numbers of these sociopathic people would horrify you. We live in a fallen lost world.
(For those who may not know, parole is the early release of persons from criminal incarceration based on their good behavior while incarcerated.)

I Have Decided
Recently at the grocery store I saw a lady wearing a tee shirt bearing the following slogan in large bold letters: “I HAVE DECIDED.”
I immediately knew what she was saying but knew that many people would not. I thought to myself that this was a wonderful evangelistic tool. The shirt was a conversation starter. People might ask her what she had decided and then she would be able to tell them. A wonderful way to unobtrusively fulfill the biblical injunction presented in 1 Peter 3:15. "... but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;"
The quoted phrase is, of course, from the Christian hymn, I Have Decided to Follow Jesus. The hymn was originated in India by the Christian missionary Sadhu Sundar Singh (born 1889, India), a convert from Sikhism. The lyrics are the last words of an Assamese convert to Christianity who was martyred along with his wife for refusing to deny his Christian conversion. His martyrdom led to the conversion of many in his village including the village leader who ordered his execution.
(The lyrics used in this video are slightly different from those shown below.)
"I have decided to follow Jesus,
I have decided to follow Jesus,
I have decided to follow Jesus,
No turning back, no turning back.
The world behind me, the cross before me,
The world behind me, the cross before me,
The world behind me, the cross before me,
No turning back, no turning back.
Though none go with me, I still will follow,
Though none go with me, I still will follow,
Though none go with me, I still will follow,
No turning back, no turning back.
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back."

When the Only Person You Want to Talk to is Your Dog
Recently, I saw a woman wearing a tee shirt which said, "Leave me alone! I'm only talking to my dog today!" We all feel that way sometimes. Your dog will love you and listen to you even if you are in a sour mood. Even if you are a bad person.
The next time you are in a mood like this, try taking to God. He will always listen. He is always there, even when you do not talk. He wants you you to talk to Him. He comes to you, even when you do not want Him to.

'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

I Am His Favorite
I saw a woman wearing a Tee-shirt emblazoned with the logo, “Jesus Loves
You … But I’m His Favorite!” I had
to think about that one and then I realized that it was true. She is His favorite. You are His favorite. I am His favorite.
Would Jesus have endured the Cross to save only the woman? Yes.
Would Jesus have endured the Cross to save only you? Yes.
Would Jesus have endured the Cross to save only me? Yes.
Saint Augustine of Hippo said, "God loves each one of us as if there
were only one of us to love."
“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of
the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10

What They Think of Us: Religion is Garbage
Look at this advertising campaign from New Zealand. The Muckmouth Agency in Auckland has produced posters advertising "Religion is Garbage" t-shirts and skateboards sold by Eshe Streetwear .
Muck is an older English word which refers to a thick, moist, and sticky mixture of mud, barnyard manure, and decaying plant matter.

Rise Above Hate
Today I saw a young man wearing a T-shirt bearing the logo “Rise Above Hate,” a truly laudable sentiment. As with many things, though, in this modern world, there is more to the story, hidden below the surface. The phrase, “Rise Above Hate” has become a code phrase for the moral relativist movement. This philosophy, which leads to the world view called postmodernism, has become the prevailing sentiment of the modern world's culture. Pope Benedict clearly understands; he has called it the "dictatorship of relativism."
Postmodernism is the newest and the most rapidly growing of the modern world views challenging the Christian ἐκκλησία, and potentially the most dangerous. It has permeated modern Western culture, even making its way into the thinking of many professing Christians. Postmodernism rejects human reason and logic as a source of truth because it declares that there is no absolute truth. Since there is no absolute truth, ethics are relative, all religions are equally true, and personal experience is more important than any external authority. There is no ultimate basis for proven knowledge of any kind. Modern Western culture is seen as repressive to the individual. There is a deep anti-intellectual distrust of reason and logic; truth is subjective, pluralistic, and collectivist, and is not reachable by reason. One of the favorite phrases of the postmodernists is "Your truth may not be my truth."
Two films on which I have commented clearly express this world view: Crash Test and Rubber .
