Labels: A Useful Tool in Searching This Blog

When you you read one of the posts in this blog, there are several tools to enhance the usefulness of the post. The Labels tool is one of these.

The current blog text which you are reading is in a white box. To the right of the blog text is a light-green box. Scroll down to the small white box which is below the light-green box. This white box is Pages. The listed pages are Home, About this Blog, Statement of Faith, and Statistics. Clicking on the name of one of the listed pages will take you to that page.

Home: At the end of the current posting which you are reading, there is a light green box with the name of Labels. These labels concern the subjects related to the current post at hand. An example of a label is "animals." Click on "animals" and the Labels tool will call up blog postings which list "animals" as one of their labels. You can use this tool to search for any subject, such as "sports," "trinity," "baptism," "book comment," or random things such as "chainsaw" or "dog poop." At the extreme bottom of the Home page is a full listing of every label which has been used on this blog, listed alphabetically. It is extensive but you can search it by scrolling down the page.

About this Blog: A statement of the philosophy of this blog and things which you may expect to see here.

Statement of Faith: I have seminary training but would not attempt to tell you what to think: I'm interested in challenging you to actually think. Many people, possibly most, don't. Read your Bible and let the Holy Spirit perform his teaching ministry.

There are three types of Christian doctrine: absolutes, convictions, and opinions. Only absolute doctrines are "fighting words." They are doctrines which must not be compromised even if they lead to heated arguments, splits, and expulsions.

Demonstrating an absolute (salvation by faith and not by works), Paul publicly rebuked Peter (Galatians 2:11-19) over whether Gentiles had to adopt Jewish practices to become Christians.

An interesting discussion of the ranking of doctrines: read especially the comments of PRMan99.

275,000 page views

This blog just went over 275,000 page views.  Thank you for your interest in this ministry. I hope that the blog helps Christians to understand our spiritual unity within our almost infinite diversity. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, for you are one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28 NASB

I have previously been using the King James Version (KJV) Bible for quotations since the work is in the public domain. The problem with the KJV is that the archaic English, while beautiful and poetic, may not translate well for readers in languages other than English. The New American Standard Bible (NASB) is considered to be the most literal modern translation into English from the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic languages.

Do you think that you have no skills which can be used by God for His glory?

Do you think that you have no skills which can be used by God for His glory? He has given each of us skills and abilities.

30,000 Page Views As of Today

On 16 February 2011, the Nielsen Company estimated that there are over 156,000,000 public blogs.  One blog being noticed among 155,999,999 others seems almost impossible.  I thank the Lord that He has directed you to mine.

Thanks to all of you, posts on this blog have now been viewed a total of 30,000 times.  UPDATE: As of 24 June 2025, there have been  657,805 page views of this blog  I view this blog as a form of Christian ministry and hope that the blog stimulates Christian intellectual discussions, helps us to realize our underlying unity even amid our differences, and fosters the understanding that we can serve the Lord in many diverse ways and in many different places.  All we have to do is listen to Him.

Christian Sailing Ministry

A Christian sailing ministry? Why not? We are called to exhibit our Christian values and witness in whatever situation we find ourselves. Sailing is a sport strongly associated with the Bible as the way Paul and his associates went from place to place on their missionary journeys.

Sailing fosters teamwork, closeness to God's natural order, and is a venue for Christian sailors to exhibit that their faith is compatible with yet another human endeavor. We don't all need to be professional ministers; we can be witnesses where we are, doing whatever it is that we do. (1 Corinthians 7: 17-24)

Led by sailing manager Steve Thompson, the Morning Star Trust is a Christian sailing charity based in Chatham, Kent, in England. They take bookings from individuals and groups for their tall ship, the Morning Star of Revelation, and their training yacht, the Dayspring.

Advertisements

An update: ALL MONETIZATIONS AND ADVERTISEMENTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS BLOG.

Posted 22 March 2010: Several days ago I received an e-mail from a young woman who said she had checked out my blog and had clicked on all my advertisements. What she was wanting was for me to go to her blog and click on her ads. She is one of the bloggers desperately wanting to make money from their blogs. These people would click on ads for Osama bin Laden Cola.

The way the ad clicks work is that any blog which carries ads receives something like one-tenth of one cent per click while Google Adsense also receives revenue from the click and from selling the ad. There are hundreds of thousands of individual blogs so a few clicks on a few thousand blogs adds up to revenue for Google.

I consider my blog to be a ministry to other Christians and interested non-believers and hope to eventually grow my readership up to a much larger level than it currently has received. I harbor no delusions of making any money from it. I allow the ads to be displayed because I can't afford to fund a website on my own. If I can help Google/Blogger to give it to me for free, I'm fine with the ads.

So far the advertisements have followed the promised guidelines. Ad products are chosen based on key words which the Google computers detect in the text of the posts. This has, for the most part, worked well as long as I am careful. Once I made a post about chastity and the next day an advertisement for chastity belts came up! The modern use for chastity belts is primarily in the Goth subculture and in "alternative se_uality." (The _ is so I don't trigger an unwanted ad with this post!)

If you do find one of the advertisements interesting, feel free to click on it. As far as I know they are all legitimate.
