Christians

At some time during their lives, the following people have publicly identified themselves as Christian.   Inclusion in this list does not indicate approval or disapproval of the person, their religious beliefs, or their actions.  This is a recurring segment in this blog.

Tekakwitha: (b. 1656, New York - d. 1680) aka: Kateri Tekakwitha, Blessed Catherine Tekakwitha, The Lily of the Mohawks, Mohawk Maiden, Pure and Tender Lily, Fairest Flower Among True Men.  She took the name “Kateri” from Catherine of Siena.  Tekakwitha, her birth name, in Mohawk means “she moves things.”  A Mohawk-Algonquian, she was the niece of a Mohawk chief.  Even though her face was heavily scarred from a childhood illness she was earnestly sought as a bride by several men.  She remained a virgin after her conversion to Roman Catholicism and was known for her intense body mortification involving impalement with sharp objects.

John Stephen Piper: (b. 1946, Tennessee) Reformed-Baptist preacher, author, theologian.
